Washing Dishes: Love it or Hate it?

Most people hate washing dishes but I have learned to use washing dishes as a meditation.  I have a small kitchen and when it's time to do dishes everybody exits so I have quiet time.  I also have a dishwasher but you still have to pre-wash and there are always the pots and pans and other items that are not dishwasher safe.  I fill up one sink with hot soapy(Morning Aura Dish Soap) water and  wash glasses and cups first and set them in the other sink.  Then I wash the plates and put them in the other sink.  Next I add the silverware to the hot water and load the prewashed dishes into the dishwasher.  Then I wash the silverware and load it directly into the silverware basket from the dishwasher. Next I put the silverware basket in it's slot and start the dishwasher.  Then I wash up any pots and pans, etc , rinse them and put them in the dish drainer to air dry.  I put them away when I put away the dishes from the dishwasher.

So you must figure that if I can write down my dishwashing procedure in this much detail, I don't have to think much about what I'm doing when I'm actually doing this task.  So as I work, I think about the things that I'm grateful for and do not allow any worries or anything negative to hang around in my mind. I pray for people I know who are having a hard time or who are sick or grieving.  To finish up the Dishwashing Meditation, I close with words of  praise to all those who have added good things to my life.  Finally I put out a clean dishtowel and dishcloth so I'll be ready for the next round and leave the kitchen with the used ones to put in the laundry on my way to somewhere else.

Just a little more info about the Morning Aura Dish Soap.

Right now, Aura is only available in a four pack for $39.99 which might put the average person off right from the start. The economy in this is how much you use, 1.5 ml which is a half an ounce.  I checked on Dawn and it doesn't even tell you how much to use!  But the last time I used Dawn it seemed like you had to use an awful lot and it didn't last for the whole dishwasing session so you had to add more. My plan is give (but you could sell) one to your sister, your daughter and your best friend to try.  Or just store them for later use.  I'll bet many months of 2021 will be over before you get it all used up.  That's a lot of Dawn you don't have to lug home from the store!  Always a plus for me!
